From a Mother on Inauguration Day

I’ve been silent about our country’s current political climate because I have far too many feels and they’re too much to process without feeling frustration and anxiety and anger and sadness and fear. As the mom of one very active toddler, I need to reserve most of my energy for wrangling him. But I feel that today is the right day to break my silence.

Oh no! I have a “spirited” child!

Yep. “Spirited.” That’s code for “willful” or “stubborn” or “opinionated” or “challenging.”

Twenty Years

For nineteen years, I grieved as your friend and classmate. But this year I’m grieving you as a mother. And my heart is breaking all over again.

To daycare we go!

When coupled with my husband’s rational and logical outlook, my rational self wins. In the next few weeks, James will become a full-time daycare kid.

A Year Without You

It’s been one year since I saw you last, and I still think about you often. Images that pop up in my Facebook feed. The jangle of your collar that still hangs on my rearview mirror.
